ON RANDOM THOUGHT. The Friend Zone

by on Aug.16, 2015, under Me, Random Thought

So I wake up at 343am because I have this urge to write about The Friend Zone. Please bear with me if some of the grammar are incorrect.

What is The Friend Zone?

According to The Attraction Doctor, “The friend zone” refers to a situation where one individual in a friendship develops more intense feelings and wants to become “more than friends” with the other person. In his article, he also mentioned the reason why people get stuck in The Friend Zone, and how to escape The Friend Zone. (To read the article please click here)

Anyway, I’m writing this to escape the situation, I’m writing because I want to share my experience/s on why do we get stuck in that situation.

Why do we get “Friend-Zoned”?

  1. We are too nice for them. That the other person to expects us to do be always there for them, and that when we do nice things for them we expect that one day all our efforts will be recognized.
  2. We are always there for them. That the other person becomes to comfortable with our presence. Make the other person feel our absence, then you’ll know you’re worth to that person – plus, they might just miss you more. Always remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
  3. We are too comfortable. That we tend to forget that you like this person and that you want a deeper relationship.
  4. We have labeled ourselves to be this for this person. That the other person would call you or text if you are available to hang and chill over drinks and to listen to their problems over this person. And the two of you would just whine and dine for the next couple of hours.
  5. We are too clingy. For me, being clingy is OK for friends, but when you are in that point and stage with that other person, lets stop being clingy and step up our game.
  6. We need to be vocal. Lastly, we need to be vocal. Seriously, nothings gonna happen if you don’t say what you truly feel for that other person.

ON RANDOM THOUGHT. Global Warming

by on Jul.20, 2014, under Random Thought

With Glenda out and Henry is about to come in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and of the more tropical depression and/or cyclones, doesn’t this give us a hint of the natural imbalances occurring in the Philippines, as well on Earth?

Okay, let’s look back.
Let’s start with Milenyo, 2006.

A report by Relief Web, a “specialized digital service of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs”, said the typhoon packed average wind speeds of up to 185 kilometers.

The report added that initial estimates found that at least 43,061 families were affected according to the various chapters of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

When the typhoon left the Philippines, then National Disaster Coordinating Council (now called the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council), reported that 184 died, 536 were injured, and 47 persons were missing.

A report also claimed that at least 1.2 million people were affected by the typhoon, particularly from poor rural areas.
Damage was extensive with 117,429 houses totally destroyed, and 378,896 houses partially destroyed. Damage to properties was estimated at P5.9 billion.

Then here comes, Ondoy, 2009.

A total of 993,227 families/4,901,234 persons were affected: 464 Dead, 529 Injured and 37 Missing.

Estimated cost of damage to infrastructure and agriculture amounted to PhP11 Billion.

Then Yolanda, 2013.

The death toll from Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) rose further to 5,632 while the damage it caused reached the P30-billion mark Saturday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

(Excerpt taken from: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/337711/news/nation/ndrrmc-yolanda-death-toll-up-to-5-632-damage-reaches-p30b)

Then, Glenda, 2014.

As published in The Philippine Star dated 19 July 2014, Glenda death toll hits 64; damage over P5B.

With the statistics mentioned above I just hope and pray that we all do our job in preventing such things to happen again.

The smallest things in helping count: from water conservation, to waste management and segregation; the list of things to do will continue. Its just up to us to contribute and to act to answer to these types of natural imbalances.

Remember its not only the government’s job to act. We all must act and change our ways. After all we all live in the same country.
